Research

Dr. Evelyn Stilp is working on thin-film all-solid-state battery systems. In solid state batteries the standard organic liquid electrolyte is replaced with an inorganic solid. The solid electrolyte is non-flammable and non-volatile, enabling an overall battery cost reduction. Furthermore its chemical and thermal stability could enhance battery lifetime and favor the employment of high capacity electrodes materials.
The aim is to build up a model system to gain fundamental understanding of the intrinsic physi-cal-chemical properties of battery materials, their interfaces and their ageing properties using dif-ferent experimental techniques like SEM/FIB, XRD, EIS, and µSR.
